Francis and Alyce Buechel founded Buechel Stone Corp., a family-own business, in 1964. The pair took their 125-acre farm and converted it into a working quarry, which allowed them to service a 100-mile radius. Buechel Stone continued to grow and in 1978 it purchased the Panetti Stone Company in Fond du Lac, Wis. The purchase allowed Buechel Stone to expand its products and to better reach its customer base. This moved the company beyond previous boundaries and opening new markets.
Growth, in products, land and dealer distribution, was the focus for the next twenty years. In 2000, Buechel Stone opened a 16,500 square foot building to house sawing and cut stone production. The momentum of growth continue into 2006 when Buechel Stone opened a 65,000 square foot building for the Building Stone lines (both full and thin veneer) and the Landscaping lines.
As a full-service operation, Buechel Stone Corp. has pioneered several industry-leading initiatives, including the production and promotion of Natural Thin Veneer, the implementation of "Rock Colleges" (formalized training for our dealer network), and the first stone company to introduce a weep system for our veneer installations. Both Scott and Tim Buechel have been actively involved with the natural stone industry. Tim was a past board member of the Allied Stone Industry (ASI) and Scott was a past President of the Building Stone Institute (BSI). Scott is also a current member of the ASTM committee for C18 1242 standards. Scott and Tim have also received the "Technical Achievement Award" by Stone World. This award is given to a North American quarrier or fabricator based on the of cooperativeness in sharing technology with the industry, willingness to pioneer the use of new technology, fostering educational programs for the training of stoneworkers in industry methods, and promoting technological progress through association work.
What these things mean for you is the opportunity to work with a company that has a long-standing reputation of doing what we say we're going to do, and is willing to help you find a natural stone that best suits your project's needs. Buechel Stone is committed to being easy to work with, and delivering on our word to our dealers and their customers.
