HISTORY

In 1964, Francis and Alyce Buechel founded Buechel Stone Company in the Chilton, Wisconsin area. They converted their 125-acre farm into a working quarry. Along with four other employees, they quarried and fabricated local limestone and sold it to customers primarily within a 50 mile radius. In 1977, Francis and Alyce sold the company to their sons and the company's name was changed to Buechel Stone Corp. In 1978, Buechel Stone Corp. expanded its customer base and manufacturing operations through the purchase of Panetti Stone Company in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Today, Tim and Scott Buechel own and operate the business.

Over the years, new product lines and fabrication techniques were developed. During the 1980s, fireplaces, brick, and masonry supplies were introduced to the product line. As a full-service operation, Buechel Stone Corp. has pioneered several industry-leading initiatives including the design of Natural Thin Veneer, the implementation of "Rock Colleges" (formalized training for their dealer network), and AIA (American Institute of Architects) certified courses to educate their architectural customer base. Buechel Stone was also one of the first companies to install a state-of-the-art Cut Stone System which fabricates stone with high-quality precision into cad-designed profiles for a variety of building needs including fireplace surrounds, hearthstones, keystones, sills, etc.

Buechel Stone Corp. currently employs over 300 people, has 700 acres of land for its quarry base and sells over 100 different types of stone nationally and internationally. The company operates out of three Wisconsin locations -Chilton location,
